Job Description

The role of an early childhood education teacher is to act as a shared resource teacher for kindergartens. The resource teacher substitutes for team members' early childhood education teachers and works collaboratively with them as planned. The teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing the pedagogical activities of a children's group together with the team. The teacher also acts as a team leader and collaborates closely with families and networks. The position requires pedagogical expertise in early childhood education, teamwork skills, and the ability to plan one's work. We expect good cooperation and interaction skills, strong workplace skills, a flexible approach, and enthusiasm for developing activities. Salary and employment conditions are determined according to OVTES. A six (6) month probationary period applies. The employer, Kemijärvi City, is a smoke-free workplace. Eligibility for the position of early childhood education teacher requires at least a Bachelor's degree in Education, including kindergarten teacher training, or a degree from a social and health care university of applied sciences with studies in early childhood education and social pedagogy as specified by government regulation (Act on the Qualification Requirements for Social Welfare and Health Care Professionals 272/2005). Preference is given to those qualified to provide pre-primary education (Decree 986/1998 and Decree 865/2005). The selected candidate must submit a satisfactory medical certificate of health and a criminal record extract related to work with children within 30 days of appointment.
