We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to support a major pharmaceutical engineering project through a leading engineering partner. The successful candidate will manage the delivery of complex utilities and energy infrastructure projects, ensuring effective planning, budget control, stakeholder coordination, and successful implementation within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment. The role will focus on the delivery of heat pump systems, heat networks, boiler projects, and industrial utility upgrades. The ideal candidate will combine strong project management experience with a technical understanding of energy systems, utilities, automation, and industrial engineering. Key Responsibilities - Manage end-to-end project delivery from design through implementation and handover. - Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans. - Monitor project costs, identify risks, and implement corrective actions. - Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders. - Support the implementation of new utility and energy systems. - Manage project risks, scope changes, and technical challenges. - Provide regular reporting on project progress, costs, planning, and performance. - Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical standards, quality requirements, and project specifications. Technical Experience The ideal candidate will have experience with: - Industrial utility systems - Heat pumps and heat network projects - Boiler and thermal energy systems - HVAC and energy infrastructure - Automation and control systems - Industrial engineering projects within regulated environments Candidate Profile - Proven experience as a Project Manager within pharmaceutical, industrial, energy, or engineering environments. - Strong track record managing complex technical projects, budgets, and timelines. - Experience coordinating contractors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary teams. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Experience managing projects from concept/design through to commissioning and delivery. Working Model Hybrid working arrangement: - 1–2 days remote working per week - 1–2 days per week on-site in Beerse, Flanders - 1 day per week in the office Contract Details - Freelance contract - Initial 12-month assignment - Long-term project opportunity available - Competitive daily rate based on experience - Location: Flanders, Belgium (Hybrid – site presence in Beerse + remote working) - Duration: Initial 6–12 month contract with potential long-term extension - Languages: Dutch & English required; French is advantageous
