The Finnish-language basic education and upper secondary education services of the City of Porvoo are seeking a class teacher for preparatory basic education for a fixed-term position from 31.8.2026 to 31.7.2027. The primary place of assignment is Peippo School. The city acts as a responsible and stable employer, offering staff good opportunities to develop and strengthen their expertise. Our modern and renovated schools support both learning and teaching, emphasizing community, inclusion, and cultural diversity—values that are evident in the daily work of both learners and teaching staff. Peippo School is a primary school of approximately 300 students, serving grades 1-6. In addition to mainstream classes, the school provides preparatory education, special classes, and starting this academic year, an English-Finnish bilingual class. Peippo has fantastic professionals working together for our students' learning and well-being. Positive pedagogy is reflected in our daily life, and students are encouraged to participate and influence. We are now looking for a class teacher to substitute for our preparatory class teacher. The job description may also include hours other than preparatory class teaching. We hope applicants will describe the following criteria affecting the selection in their job application. Those invited for an interview will be selected based on the applications. Eligibility requirements are determined in accordance with the Decree on the Qualifications of Teaching Staff (986/1998). The selected person must have the qualifications of a class teacher. Original degree certificates proving eligibility must be presented during a possible interview. Considered an advantage: - experience in planning, implementing, and assessing teaching - good cooperation and interaction skills as well as a solution-oriented approach - experience in teamwork - mastery of teaching arrangements and group-specific support forms that support learning conditions - mastery of language-aware teaching - experience in co-teaching and school community development - knowledge of S2 (Finnish as a second language) teaching Salary is determined according to the municipal education sector official and collective agreement. The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 3 of the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
