Job Description

South Savo Wellbeing Services Eloisa is seeking two (2) social workers for permanent positions in the Gerontological Social Work and Guidance team in Mikkeli, starting from August 24, 2026, or as agreed. As a social worker in the Gerontological Social Work and Guidance team, you will be responsible for assessing the service needs of individuals over 65 requiring special support, acting as a caseworker, and engaging in extensive network collaboration. Special support needs refer to individuals who, according to Section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, face difficulties in accessing social and health services due to cognitive or mental disabilities or illnesses, substance abuse or other dependency behaviors, multiple simultaneous support needs, or similar reasons, and whose support needs are not related to advanced age as defined in the Elderly Services Act (980/2012). Preventive and outreach work are also important parts of elderly services. The area covers social work for elderly individuals across the entire South Savo wellbeing region, initially focusing on Mikkeli and surrounding municipalities. You will not work alone, as you will have strong support from the gerontological social work team. We expect genuine interest in elderly individuals and a desire to develop the wellbeing of the aging population in collaboration with various actors. We value the ability to work in a broad cooperation network, an independent work approach, and initiative. You may work in pairs with a social worker or social pedagogue if needed. Your supervisor will support your work and be present in client work. In this role, you will have opportunities to utilize and develop your skills in various ways. The team includes a lead social worker, four social workers, five social pedagogues, and one gerontologist. Applicants are expected to have sufficient experience in social work with the elderly. We appreciate a proactive approach to development and a broad understanding of social and health service structures, as well as an interest in seeking collaboration outside of social and health services. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to make independent decisions. Remote work options are available, but it is necessary to work part of the time in the local area where clients reside. A driver’s license is essential. We will provide orientation for the role. We value employee wellbeing and a supportive work environment. We continuously develop our processes to meet changing client needs. Professional development is supported through supervision and training. Eloisa offers employees a benefit worth 200 euros for activities related to sports, culture, or wellbeing services. We want you to enjoy working with us and to feel good at your job. The qualification requirement is a social worker qualification according to the Social Welfare Professionals Act (817/2015) Section 7, and licensure. Additionally, sufficient spoken and written Finnish language skills are required. The role requires vaccination against communicable diseases as per Section 48 of the Infectious Diseases Act, and a health statement regarding tuberculosis of the respiratory system as per Section 55. The selected candidate must present a health statement before employment is confirmed. The employment relationship includes a six (6) month probation period. Applicants working with the elderly must provide an acceptable criminal record extract before starting work if the employment exceeds three months (Supervision Act 741/2023, Section 28). Applications must be received by the deadline. Applications should be submitted through the Kuntarekry system.
