Backend Engineer

Job title: Backend Engineer (Rust) Job type: Permanent Salary: ~€100,000 Role Location: Paris, France (On-site, 5 days per week) The company: An early-stage, product-focused technology company building a large-scale platform. The team is international, collaborative, and focused on creating high-performance systems while fostering deep technical expertise and ownership. Role and responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems capable of handling high traffic and rapid growth. - Develop and maintain shared Rust components used across backend and mobile platforms. - Collaborate closely with iOS, Android, and backend engineers to deliver seamless cross-platform experiences. - Contribute to feature design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making. - Continuously improve engineering practices and contribute to a culture of learning and innovation. Job requirements: - Commercial or open-source experience with Rust or another systems programming language (e.g. C++, C, OCaml). - Experience building and maintaining distributed systems in production. - Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Redpanda, Cassandra, ScyllaDB, or similar. - Strong problem-solving skills with an ownership mindset. - Interest in building consumer-facing products is advantageous. - English communication skills required; additional languages are not essential.
