
We are now looking for a Technical Sales Manager to support UPM Specialty Materials' business in the Americas. In this role, you will combine technical expertise with commercial insight to support customers, identify new business opportunities, and deliver value-driven solutions. You will collaborate closely with customers and cross-functional teams to address technical challenges, develop customer-focused solutions, and support paper projects from initial concept through commercialization. What you will do: - Focus on understanding customer needs and provide them with technical expertise and advice. - Foster relationships with customers and external collaborators. - Work closely with the sales team to identify, develop and close new business opportunities. - Provide paper converting and application expertise internally to sales teams, and customer service and externally to customers on-site when appropriate. - Handle customer remarks and claims whenever Customer Service or Operations need technical support. - Actively participate in customer projects and innovation. - Screen assigned customer inquiries and assess them for initial 'fit' to our paper portfolio. - Participate in trade associations and technical conferences. - Closely cooperate with and support the product and technology development team. - Act as a link between customer and production sites in solving technically complex cases. - Monitor and report on industry trends. Who you are: - Relevant commercial degree/education and technical understanding of complex products. - Proven history in a customer facing role, ideally in a B-to-B environment or technical sales capacity. - Sales skills, product, application and process knowledge and experience of the paper industry and market. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Commercially minded and excel at networking. - Familiar with working in matrix organization. - Decisive and results oriented. - Agile in the face of change. - Spanish language skills are preferred. Salary range: from 105 000 to 142 000 USD / year based on qualifications and experience.
