We need a part-time social worker for the Seniori-info gerontological social work team for a fixed-term position from September 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, or as agreed. The working hours are 70%, and the role can be focused based on your interest and expertise either on planned social work supporting home living or on official-hours social emergency services for the elderly. The competent and collaborative gerontological social work team operates throughout the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county area. Planned Social Work Role: The clients of the social worker currently being recruited mainly live in the Inkoo-Raseborg areas, but there may also be clients in other areas of the wellbeing services county, such as Espoo, as needed. We hope for a flexible attitude and readiness to move according to client needs and the work situation within the wellbeing services county. In client work, the social worker acts as the person responsible for the client process and as the primary worker for clients requiring special support. The role includes planned social work based on service need assessment and client plans, as well as decision-making regarding, for example, basic social assistance and referral channels. Proficiency in both national languages is necessary for the work. The primary workplace for the selected social worker is the shared office space located at Raaseporintie 11 in Ekenäs, but a local workplace can be agreed upon at the Kirkkonummi Wellbeing Centre or the Espoo Hospital site. Partial remote work is possible. Emergency Social Work Role: As an emergency social worker, you will be responsible for the official-hours social emergency services for residents of the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county over 65 years of age, together with another social worker. You will assess the ability of elderly clients to manage at home in social crisis situations and work in cooperation with other operators and authorities as required by the situation. In your work, you will, among other things, answer official line calls on weekdays from 8:00 to 15:00, process notifications received by the unit in accordance with the Social Welfare Act, and create necessary follow-up plans for each client's individual situation. As an emergency worker, you will make decisions regarding urgent basic social assistance and institutional care. As an emergency social worker, you will visit clients' homes to assess situations when necessary. The emergency role can be performed from various sites in the region, so we can consider your wishes regarding the local workplace location. Strong social work experience, understanding of work with elderly people, and experience in emergency social work will benefit success in these gerontological social work specialist roles. Experience in granting discretionary basic social assistance is an advantage. The job requires a driver's license and travel within the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county; therefore, the ability to use one's own car is highly beneficial. Good interaction skills, flexibility, and self-management skills are required, as the work is performed with an independent approach as a member of a multi-site team. Recruitment interviews will be held at the Seniori-info Espoo Hospital site at Karvasmäentie 6, Espoo. Eligibility requirements: Qualification according to Section 7 of the Act on Social Care Professionals (817/2015). In the absence of qualified applicants, we will also consider applications from substitute-qualified social work students. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act, as well as a tuberculosis screening according to Section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act. The selected person must present a criminal record extract necessary for verifying the criminal background of a person working with elderly people, in accordance with Section 28 of Act 741/2023. Those selected for the position/employment contract may be randomly asked for a drug test in accordance with the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county's substance abuse program.
