Researcher for Nordic Sign Language Project

Nordic Sign Language Network seeks a researcher for a Nordic project on linguistic indicators of Nordic sign languages. The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and carried out by Institutet för språk och folkminnen (Isof). The researcher will map existing work to develop indicators, identify common factors across spoken and sign languages, and describe indicators particularly suitable for sign languages. The role is autonomous and includes regular remote meetings with the Nordic Sign Language Network. Meeting language will be Nordic Sign Language. The final deliverable is a written report in one of the Scandinavian languages (Swedish, Norwegian or Danish), including a summary and an appendix on the indicators. The project runs from 1 September 2026 to 30 June 2027 and is part-time. Working hours for the period can be negotiated. The report must be delivered to the client by 30 April 2027. Applicants must know one Nordic sign language and one Scandinavian written language. Experience in language-policy work and Nordic cooperation is an advantage.
