About the role

We are seeking an experienced social worker for a permanent position in open, foster, and aftercare services for minors in child welfare in Lahti. Our team is responsible for clients in the Lahti and Iitti regions. The workplace is located at the Lahti social and health center in the Lahti city center area. In open, foster, and aftercare services for minors, you will act as the social worker responsible for the child's affairs. Our goal is for the child and family to receive sufficient support and services during the process, which you will be responsible for planning and organizing. We work according to a systemic approach, and family therapists also participate in the multidisciplinary weekly teams. Our team consists of a leading social worker, social workers, social guides, and family workers. We work extensively in pairs. We strive to enable you to focus on the most important task: handling the child's case. We expect from you an understanding and ability to act in accordance with the Child Welfare Act, the ability for positive interaction with both clients and colleagues, and the ability to act purposefully and systematically to protect the child's best interests. Solid experience and knowledge of the work of a child welfare social worker are considered an advantage. Before assuming the position, you must present a criminal record extract in accordance with the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children and Youth (504/2002). Experience in child welfare social work is considered an advantage. Our working language is Finnish, so we require fluent oral and written Finnish language skills. In the absence of applicants meeting the eligibility requirements, the position may be filled on a fixed-term basis for a maximum of one year by a person studying to be a social worker who has successfully completed basic and intermediate studies in social work and practical training. A person studying for the profession is considered to be a person pursuing a social worker's degree who is a present student at the university from which they will graduate as a social worker. Additionally, the position may be filled on a fixed-term basis for a maximum of one year by a person who has completed a suitable university degree in the social sciences or a university of applied sciences degree in social and health care, which included or was supplemented by basic and intermediate studies in social work and practical training.
