About the role

The Helsinki Rescue Department is seeking an Equipment Manager to lead one of Finland's most demanding equipment complexes. The role involves managing the entire lifecycle of rescue vehicles, boats, and other equipment to ensure operational reliability at all times. As part of the middle management, you will coordinate daily operations and long-term development within the equipment unit of the security of supply services. Key responsibilities include budgeting, public procurement, small purchases, contract management, and supplier cooperation. You will also act as a project manager for complex technical projects, working closely with experts and users. You will lead an equipment unit of approximately 20 employees, consisting of the equipment workshop, maintenance, and respiratory protection maintenance. A central part of the role is coaching-oriented personnel management, promoting occupational safety and well-being, and building a positive team spirit. Requirements include a suitable higher university degree, at least two years of experience in supervisory roles, and proficiency in Finnish and satisfactory skills in Swedish. A Class B driver's license is mandatory. Success in the role requires technical-commercial expertise in equipment management, budgeting, and procurement, as well as experience in coaching leadership and technical project management. Experience in heavy vehicle technology, procurement law, and LEAN principles is highly valued. A background in the rescue sector is not required.
