About the role

We are looking for a mathematician for a permanent position in Ilmarinen's Actuarial and Analytics Services. The position is suitable for someone at the beginning of their career or someone who has already gained some experience. In your role, you will participate in the calculation, reporting, and analysis of occupational pension insurance premiums and liability debts, as well as the development of calculation processes. In your role, you will, for example: - act as an expert in the maintenance and development of information systems and calculation applications - perform calculations, analyses, and forecasts - utilize, refine, and analyze data - work in cooperation with business experts Your work combines mathematics, data analytics, programming skills, and expertise in occupational pension insurance. Your job tasks will be specified according to your skills, interests, and previous work experience. What kind of team will you work in? The mathematician's position is located in the Actuarial Services team, which operates as part of the Actuarial and Analytics Services. What do we expect from you? - a university degree suitable for the position (mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, or other similar) - solution-orientedness, problem-solving skills, an analytical way of thinking, accuracy, and a desire to learn and develop - a self-directed approach to work as well as good interaction and teamwork skills - programming skills (e.g., Python, R, or other languages); experience with database query languages (e.g., SQL) is considered an asset - fluent proficiency in Finnish and English - a desire to understand the underlying phenomena and develop even better operating methods - partial completions of the SHV degree are considered an asset Previous experience from the occupational pension or other insurance sector is beneficial but not necessary. The most important thing is the desire to learn and develop as an expert.
