Special Education Teacher

Vasa Demonstration School is maintained by Åbo Akademi. In the school, 900 children and young people receive their education in preschool, basic education, and upper secondary education from a staff of over 120 people. In the English line for grades 1-9, teaching is partially in English. The upper secondary school has specializations in fine arts and music, as well as an IB line. The school is closely linked to the Faculty of Education and Welfare Studies. The school hosts both supervised practice in connection with teacher training and various forms of cooperation in research and development work. Åbo Akademi is advertising a position as an hourly teacher, primarily as a special education teacher, at Vasa Demonstration School with 80% employment (20 hours/week) from September 1, 2026 (or as soon as possible) to July 31, 2027. The position is located in basic education, grades 1-6. Eligibility Requirements The same eligibility and language skills as required by the Decree on the Eligibility Requirements for Personnel in the Education System (986/1998) for the teaching duties of a lecturer, as well as eligibility in accordance with the requirements stipulated in the Instructions for Vasa Demonstration School. A probationary period (6 months) applies to new employment. Salary Salary is paid according to the requirement level framework 4-5 for demonstration school personnel. In addition, a personal salary component based on individual performance is paid.
