The internal medicine ward in Valkeakoski cares for internal medicine patients at various stages of their illness. Patients arrive at the ward from, among other places, the emergency department, the Heart Hospital, day surgery, and other wards within the Pirkanmaa wellbeing services county. Follow-up care for sleep apnea patients is also part of the ward's operations. The ward has four separate rooms for infectious patients, which include isolation areas and the possibility of air isolation. Additionally, telemetry monitoring is available for four patients. As a registered nurse in the internal medicine ward, you will engage in versatile tasks where you are responsible for the nursing care of internal medicine patients. In your work, you will implement extensive medication therapy and gain proficiency in various practical skills, such as cannulation, wound care, drain management, and the use of various medical devices. You will also assist physicians in minor procedures, such as punctures. Previous work experience in the nursing care of internal medicine patients is considered an advantage. However, more important than experience is the desire to learn new things and the ability to act patient-centrically and flexibly in changing situations. We value the desire to work persistently and commit to the position. The starting date for the position is from October 1, 2026, or by agreement. We apply a six-month probationary period. The work is full-time, and the working time is on average 38 hours and 15 minutes per week. Our unit operates with morning, evening, and night shifts. We require vaccination protection in accordance with Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (1227/2016).
