This is a long‑term freelance opportunity suited to a technically strong, delivery‑focused professional who can manage construction protocols in a fast‑paced environment. The role requires full on‑site presence and a start in July. Key Responsibilities Health & safety leadership — Develop, implement, and enforce HSE policies and procedures across all project phases, ensuring a strong safety culture on-site. Site safety supervision — Monitor daily activities to ensure compliance with Spanish HSE regulations and project-specific safety standards, conducting regular inspections and audits. Incident prevention & investigation — Identify hazards, lead risk assessments, and investigate incidents or near misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Environmental compliance — Ensure project activities align with environmental regulations, including waste management, energy efficiency practices, and emissions control. HSE reporting & stakeholder engagement — Track safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to stakeholders, while promoting collaboration between project teams to maintain high safety standards. Requirements HSE background with large-scale project experience — Proven experience in health, safety, and environmental management within complex construction or hyperscale infrastructure projects. Data center environment experience preferred — Familiarity with HSE requirements specific to mission-critical or data center construction projects is highly desirable. Ability to lead site-wide safety efforts — Skilled in managing cross-functional teams and enforcing HSE standards in fast-paced, high-risk construction environments. Strong knowledge of Spanish and EU HSE regulations — In-depth understanding of European and local health, safety, and environmental legislation applicable to construction and engineering projects. Excellent leadership and stakeholder communication skills — Capable of influencing contractors, engaging stakeholders, and driving a proactive safety culture across all project teams. Availability for on-site project delivery in Spain — Ready for full-time site-based engagement to support project execution and compliance. English Fluent (Spanish is a bonus)
