Practical Nurse

Welcome to work with the elderly in the Swedish-speaking evaluation and rehabilitation unit Granit at Kivelä Senior Center. The unit has 17 client places distributed between evaluation and rehabilitation as well as short-term care. The daily work focuses on rehabilitation and culture-related activities to support the residents’ functioning and wellbeing. We value warm interaction, guidance and support, and enthusiasm for working with older people to bring joy to their daily lives. Your role ensures our work method remains resident-oriented, activity-supported, and innovative. You will be heard and have influence over your work. Communication with clients is in Swedish according to their wishes. We use the Apotti information system and RAIs assessment instrument in Finnish, and the team interaction is conducted in Finnish. The multidisciplinary team includes a supervisor, nurses, practical nurses, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist, a social counselor and regular medical contacts. The practical nurse job is varied and involves shift work (three shifts). Each day brings new possibilities and encounters. The tasks include close collaboration in the multidisciplinary team, drafting, implementing and evaluating care plans for clients, including basic and medication management. Kivelä Senior Center is one of Helsinki City’s senior centers built on the values of genuine encounter, joy of life and well-being of staff. As a practical nurse you will perform tasks such as supporting clients’ functioning through rehabilitative care, basic care (hygiene and assistance with meals), medication and wound care, acting as a designated care giver to named clients, person-centered interaction with residents and collaboration with relatives and the team, and documentation in the Apotti patient information system. We expect you to have a practical nurse degree, good Swedish language skills, respect for autonomy, strong communication and collaboration skills, and an interest in developing your own competence.
