Social Worker

The Helsinki Criminal Sanctions Agency is responsible for the execution of prison sentences and community sanctions in the Helsinki region. Operations cover both the secure and lawful implementation of sentences and goal-oriented rehabilitative work. The core of the work is supporting clients toward a crime-free lifestyle. The center includes the Helsinki and Suomenlinna prisons as well as community sanctions offices. The units form a close cooperation network where work during imprisonment and sanctions carried out in civilian life are integrated according to the client's individual service path. The approach emphasizes multidisciplinary work, planned client work, and effective rehabilitative and social interventions. A key goal of the Criminal Sanctions Agency is to reduce recidivism and increase societal safety. This is promoted by strengthening clients' readiness to integrate into society. Work is carried out in close cooperation with a wide field of authorities and networks, including social and health care, municipalities, organizations, and other key actors. The social worker position being recruited is at Helsinki Prison. Performing the duties requires close cooperation with different units of the criminal sanctions agency region (community sanctions office and prisons) as well as movement between sites. Client work is conducted flexibly, both face-to-face and remotely. As a social worker, you will act as a social care expert and perform meaningful and impactful work with criminal sanctions clients in need of special support. The goal of your work is to increase their readiness for a crime-free lifestyle by promoting life management and societal integration during and after the sentence. As a social worker, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your duties include demanding client work and client guidance to services according to service needs, cooperation with various authorities, networks, and partners across unit boundaries, and consulting other staff on social work issues and demanding client situations. Additionally, your duties include preparing social care permits and applications, drafting expert statements, and structural social work. The focus of your work will be minors and young criminal sanctions clients as well as other special groups, such as criminal sanctions clients of foreign background. The social worker has special responsibility for the processing of social care information.
