About the role

Our daycare is growing and we need more early childhood education professionals. The location of Kalajärvi Daycare offers versatile opportunities for implementing sports and outdoor pedagogy. We have direct access to the forest from the yard! Kalajärvi Daycare moved to new premises in September 2025, and we are now looking for a warm-hearted and enthusiastic early childhood education teacher for a permanent position. In the coming academic year, your group will be for 2-5-year-olds, and your colleagues will include an early childhood education teacher, an early childhood education childcare worker, and an assistant. As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible, together with your team and other teachers in the work community, for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of high-quality pedagogy, as well as cooperation with parents. In collaboration with other early childhood education staff, you will ensure a positive atmosphere in our daycare where children can grow, develop, and learn safely. You will also be supported in your work by a comprehensive early childhood special education teacher. Our daycare has 11 groups for children aged 0-6. You will become part of a work community building a new operational culture in wonderful, movement-inviting premises and a nature-oriented environment. We have excellent facilities for small-group activities, which is one of our development goals. The daycare has two soft-play wrestling rooms, an atelier, and a great large gym. Children get to move here! A safe and calm atmosphere and warm interactions with everyone are important values for us. We value positive pedagogy and strength-based work. At the same time, you will gain materials for your own professional growth and well-being at work. You will be able to discuss the joys and challenges of the early stages of your career with an experienced mentor and meet other colleagues starting as early childhood education teachers. This workplace is accessible. Eligibility requirement: Qualification according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). At least a Bachelor of Education degree that includes early childhood education teacher training, or a degree from a university of applied sciences in social services and health (early childhood education), or a previous equivalent college-level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher or social educator degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree no. 608/2005). Early childhood education teachers graduating soon will also be considered. We require a flexible approach to work, commitment to small-group activities, and good teamwork skills. Additionally, we require enthusiasm for developing your own expertise and creating a shared work culture for the daycare. We require good written and oral Finnish language skills and knowledge of the Early Childhood Education Act. The person selected for the position must present a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6.2 of the Criminal Records Act. The Communicable Diseases Act requires the clarification of the risk of tuberculosis infection for those working with children under school age.
