School Assistant

The Lauttasaari Primary School, a community-oriented school with approximately 600 students, is seeking a motivated School Assistant. The school offers Finnish, English-enriched, and Swedish immersion classes and is known for its supportive work community. The primary goal of the role is to guide and support learners throughout the schooling and learning process, including caring for the students' well-being. Duties are diverse and may include acting as a group assistant in general education or in a special education class. Specific tasks are determined by the needs of the class and students, and may include supervising taxi rides, assisting during lessons, providing personal assistance in daily school situations, supervising breaks and meals, and guiding small groups. The ideal candidate should also have the motivation to support students' physical activity and holistic well-being. The position is a permanent employment with the City of Helsinki, with a working time of 26 hours per week. The role includes a 30-day summer break, typically in July, and annual leave aligned with school holidays. During other school holidays, assistants may work in centralized holiday activities for children with disabilities at various City of Helsinki schools.
