About the role

The Senior Technician in R&D at Kraton is responsible for laboratory synthesis, analytical work, and providing technical service and manufacturing support (such as plant trials) to scientists, to support the maintenance and growth of the business in target market segments. The Sr. Technician is expected to perform all duties in a safe manner, and to maintain a safe operating environment. Key Responsibilities include contributing to value creation through experimental knowledge, setting up and executing routine or ad-hoc experiments, formulating programs with supervisor, communicating deviations, coordinating equipment maintenance, participating in small technical service projects, producing quality data by deadlines, handling materials and equipment procurement, monitoring lab safety, conducting experiments per safety guidelines, creating Standard Operating Procedures, and proposing improvements in meetings. Required skills include knowledge of organic, analytical, or inorganic chemistry, laboratory automation, and process technology, ability to explain methods, build experimental setups, and locate information in literature; knowledge of health and safety policies (HAZCOM). Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s preferred; 3–5 years related experience preferred. This role is based in Houston, TX at Kraton, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.
