About the role In the role as Accounting Specialist you take responsibility for key accounting activities with a focus on If’s operations in Sweden. This role offers the opportunity to independently work in a dynamic international environment, build expertise in insurance accounting, contribute to ongoing projects and actively drive process improvements. The role reports to the Head of Private Insurance Accounting. Key responsibilities include: Coordinate accounting and reporting processes in Sweden, including contributing to book close and Group reporting activities for If’s Swedish entities, ensuring quality assurance and controls for the balance sheet and income statement, coordinating external audits and working with annual reports and other external reporting, as well as providing guidance on accounting matters within your area of responsibility. Develop understanding of Business Area Private via close collaboration with controllers, taking part in new product launches, business initiatives and system developments Submit VAT returns for the Swedish entities, manage various tax payments, work closely with the Corporate Tax function and support tax-related quality assurance and controls Support HR on accounting-related matters Work closely with other accounting teams across the Nordic countries and business areas We offer In the same way that we place high demands on you as an employee, we also expect you to place high demands on us as an employer. Within Financial Reporting Operations, the Local Accounting unit includes the Private, Commercial & Industrial, Baltic Accounting, and Investment Accounting teams. Its role is to ensure high-quality financial reporting across all business areas and to harmonize insurance accounting processes across business areas, countries, and companies in the Nordic and Baltic region. We work closely with other teams in Financial Reporting Operations, Group Reporting, and the business areas. You will join If’s Private Insurance Accounting team of 13 employees across Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark, and a team leader located in Sweden. In your day-to-day work, you will collaborate closely with colleagues across If, including business area controllers, actuaries, tax experts, and corporate reporting specialists. Who are you? We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in accounting within the insurance industry, a proactive mindset, and a willingness to learn new processes, systems and people. You should be comfortable working in a large international organization and navigating a complex system environment. You are structured and work effectively under tight deadlines. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, while contributing to a positive workplace culture. You also have: A degree in accounting, finance, auditing, or a related field 5–10 years of experience in accounting, auditing, or a similar role A strong understanding of accounting processes and workflows Experience working in a finance function within a large international company Hands-on experience with financial close processes and tax related tasks Strong Excel skills Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English Experience in the insurance or finance industry is an advantage Additional facts and the recruitment process Application deadline: Screening and interviewing will start immediately.
