The University of Vaasa is seeking a Director for the Tritonia Academic Library, a separate entity providing library, information, and open science services to the University of Vaasa, Vaasa University of Applied Sciences, and Novia University of Applied Sciences (Vaasa and Pietarsaari units). The Director is responsible for the library's operations, finances, and the implementation of its strategy, playing a key role in promoting research, teaching, and learning. Key responsibilities include strategic and operational management of the library, developing support services for research and teaching, promoting digital and open science services, leading personnel, developing competence, and supporting employee well-being. The role also involves budgeting, resource management, and collaborating with university leadership as well as national and international networks. The Director reports to the Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Vaasa. The ideal candidate holds a suitable higher university degree (e.g., in information or library sciences) and has strong experience leading expert organizations. Understanding the role of academic libraries in supporting research and teaching, as well as experience in developing digital services and open science, is required. Excellent interaction, cooperation, and communication skills, strategic thinking, and a development-oriented approach are essential. Fluency in Finnish, English, and Swedish is required. Experience working in a higher education environment is considered an advantage.
