How does a meaningful job in a world-class university dealing with contracts and public procurement sound? **We are now looking for** a procurement and contract lawyer to replace an employee on parental leave and complete Aalto University's expert legal services team! This is a one-year substitute position, with an ideal start date in September–October 2026. If this description piques your interest, we want to hear more from you! **As a procurement and contract lawyer at Aalto University**, your primary task is to be responsible for the legal support and development of the university's public procurement and procurement contracting. You will work closely with the university's procurement team experts and other Aalto staff, reporting to the Head of Legal Affairs and, in a matrix organization, to the Procurement Manager and the CEO of Aalto University Properties. You will play a key role in conducting interesting procurements related to the university's services, infrastructure, and campus. You enjoy a varied workday and strive to find practical solutions to your colleagues' challenging questions with a customer-oriented and diligent attitude. **The core of your job description includes:** - legal advice and guidance related to the preparation, implementation, and decision-making of public procurement procedures, as well as procurement-related contract matters; - handling procurement rectification claims regarding procurement decisions and other procurement-related disputes; and - participating in the development of operating models related to procurement and contracts, and providing legal training for staff. You will also support real estate companies in legal matters related to real estate development and lease agreements. **You may be the person we are looking for if:** - you hold a Master of Laws degree and have at least a couple of years of practical experience working with public procurement and contracts (knowledge of state aid, competition and public sector regulation, and other law related to AI and/or digital services or construction is also an advantage); - you have a self-directed and proactive approach to work and are enthusiastic about learning new things and developing university operations; - you possess professional confidence, are solution-focused, and master a business-oriented mindset – you genuinely want to find functional and sustainable solutions; and - you have good interpersonal skills and work seamlessly in both Finnish and English (proficiency in Swedish is also considered an advantage). **Aalto University offers you:** - a diverse job description involving interesting procurements; - the opportunity to participate in the development of university services and the implementation of a strategy aimed at building a sustainable future; - a position in an expert and friendly team where knowledge is shared and mutual support is provided; - a low-hierarchy work community that values continuous development; and - a relaxed and flexible work culture and a good work-life balance.
