About the role

Are you passionate about a child-centered and sensitive approach? Are you interested in hiking, children's environmental education, and outdoor pedagogy? Our long-term teacher has just graduated as a special education teacher in early childhood education and is moving to these duties in our unit. We are now looking for a new teacher to replace them. Daycare Nurka is located in the Puistola small-house area next to good hiking and outdoor terrains. Our action plan emphasizes strengthening children's language and literacy skills from the city's common strategies, and as our own goals, the development of outdoor pedagogy and strengthening children's relationship with nature. Within walking distance are the Kalkkikallio and Roosinmäki nature reserves, the child-friendly Omppupuisto, Nurkka's playground and library. A parents' committee operates at Nurkka, with whom we organize extra activities for children. According to the latest Fiilari personnel survey, our work community is collaborative, innovative, and goal-oriented. We help each other, succeed together, and treat other people with respect. In the daycare's pedagogy, we are supported by the unit's own special education teacher and assistant director. We value a teacher who sees the strengths of every child and has a sensitively firm attitude towards children. You also have good team and cooperation skills. We solve common issues with a positive approach. We offer you the opportunity to work in a community where everyone's strengths are taken into account. We also offer you good continuing education opportunities. You also have the opportunity to influence the planning of the pedagogical activities of a new daycare center, which we will start during the coming autumn. Daycare Nurkka will move to new premises in January 2028. Why work for us? It is important to us that you can do impactful work for a good Helsinki life. We want you to succeed and be inspired in your work. We offer you diverse opportunities to grow and develop as a professional. According to the latest personnel survey, people enjoy working here and experience the work as meaningful! You will have access to the benefits of Finland's largest employer, such as an Epassi Flex benefit of up to 550 euros for commuting as well as cultural, sports, and wellness services. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for the construction of your children's group's operational culture and learning environment, the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of pedagogical activities, and the support of children's individual learning in accordance with the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit's action plan, and the child's individual plan (vasu).
