About the role

City of Vantaa, Urban Culture and Wellbeing, Youth and Community Services Community Services Silkkitehtaantie 5, 2nd floor, 01300 Vantaa Employment duration: Fixed-term 01.09.2026 or by agreement - 30.04.2027 University Intern to assist in the administration of state grants for food aid We are seeking a final-stage Master's student as a university intern for the City of Vantaa's community services. The ideal candidate is proficient in financial reporting, interested in social issues, possesses a flexible customer service attitude, and has experience in cooperation with organizations. The duration of the internship is 8 months, and the working hours are 60–100% as agreed. The City of Vantaa's community services distribute the annual state grant for food aid from THL to eligible food aid operators in Vantaa and Kerava within the Vantaa-Kerava wellbeing services county. Approximately 20 food aid associations and parishes are participating in this round. Food aid activities range from distributing surplus food bags to community lunches, breakfasts, brunches, cooking clubs, and coffee gatherings. Each food aid operator distributes surplus food in their own community-based way. In Vantaa, they operate within the Yhteinen pöytä (Common Table) network, and individual operators from Kerava are also involved. Regular and continuous cooperation with organizations—electronically, by phone, and when necessary face-to-face—is key in the distribution of the state grant. Interim reports to THL are made 1–2 times a year using two platforms: haeavustuksia.fi and ruoka-apu.fi. Several food aid operators require assistance in using these platforms. The intern will work in a team with the community manager, food aid coordinator, and financial coordinator, and will be responsible for the administration of the grant entity and reporting to the funder. The community manager will serve as the intern's supervisor. We require an interest in social issues and organizational work. In the field of food aid, issues of social exclusion are encountered daily, and the nature of food aid activities varies greatly by region and location; therefore, practical experience in interacting with diverse people and groups is considered an advantage. The office is located on Silkkitehtaankatu in Tikkurila with good transport links. Work can also be done remotely where appropriate. Recruitment process Selected candidates will be sent an invitation for a video interview on Friday, August 7. The deadline for video responses is Monday, August 10, at 12:00. Please monitor your email during Friday and check that the invitation has not gone to the spam folder. Based on the video interviews, some candidates will be invited to live interviews in Koivukylä. Interviews will be held on Thursday, August 13, and Friday, August 14.
