About the role

We are looking for two early childhood education teachers for the early childhood education unit Ahti-Hiekkalinna-Vellamo. One of the teacher positions is in daycare Ahti, in a group of 1-3 year olds and the other position in daycare Hiekkalinna in a group of 3-5 year olds. We offer you a great work community where work is smooth and the support of the work community is continuous. We have created functional structures in the unit for all meetings, but also for all pedagogical activities. Pedagogical teacher meetings are regular and the sak-time is implemented very well. The resources of the work community in various surveys have been humor, supporting colleagues and community skills. Now you have an excellent opportunity to become part of this entity. In our activities, working with children with Finnish as a second language and the importance of play as part of the children's holistic daycare day are emphasized. As a work environment, Vuosaari offers good opportunities for playground visits, the library, forest trips, etc. Our unit also has a special early childhood education teacher, an early childhood education teacher hired as an additional resource for children who speak Finnish as a second language and a multilingual instructor. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for the construction of your child group's operational culture and learning environment, the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of pedagogical activities and the support of children's individual learning in accordance with the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit's operational plan and the child's vasu. Eligibility requirements: We require that you have eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or, in accordance with the transitional provision (Section 75), a bachelor's degree in educational sciences (lto), a suitable university of applied sciences degree or a previous equivalent college-level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher's or social educator's degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree No. 608/2005). A recognition decision made by the National Agency for Education on the basis of foreign education for the position applied for also fulfills the eligibility requirement. In addition, we require good oral and written Finnish language skills. The selected person must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for the respiratory organs of those working with children under school age is checked (Infectious Diseases Act Section 55). When you start a permanent employment relationship as an early childhood education teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, we offer you an incentive bonus of 2000 euros.
