About the role

In this dual-role position (50% Local Division / 50% Global Division), you will serve as a subject matter specialist and trusted advisor to ABB Marine & Ports Division leadership on all trade compliance, export control, and sanctions matters. Reporting directly to the Division Operations Manager, Marine & Ports, with indirect reporting lines to the Division General Counsel and the Automation BA Trade Compliance Manager, you will drive both local compliance delivery in Finland and the continuous global improvement of trade compliance capabilities across all Marine & Ports Global divisions. You will be mainly accountable for: Acting as a trusted advisor to business leadership on trade compliance, export controls, sanctions, customs, and related regulatory requirements. Serving as the primary point of contact for trade compliance matters and supporting interactions with trade authorities and regulatory stakeholders. Supporting business operations and complex projects through risk assessments, compliance reviews, and practical risk-based recommendations. Enable compliant business growth by supporting sales, operations, and functional teams in evaluating trade-related risks before execution of commercial activities. Leading the development and continuous improvement of trade compliance processes, governance, tools, and best practices across the Marine & Ports Division. Driving competence development through training, awareness activities, and ongoing support to local trade compliance stakeholders globally. Monitoring changes in international trade regulations and translating regulatory requirements into clear and actionable guidance for the business. Collaborate closely with Operations, Legal, Sales, Supply Chain, and other key stakeholders to strengthen compliance culture and ensure alignment with ABB policies and global trade requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Trade, Law, Supply Chain, Economics, or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in trade compliance with strong expertise in at least two of the following: customs regulations, export controls (EAR/ECCN), sanctions (OFAC, EU), and tariff classification.
  • A few years of leadership or senior advisory role providing trade compliance guidance to senior management and cross-functional teams in a multinational environment
  • Experience assessing and managing compliance risks while providing practical, business-oriented recommendations.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and improve compliance processes, controls, and ways of working.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory topics to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with business, operations, legal, and other support functions.
  • Self-driven and solution-oriented approach with high integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
