Doctoral Researcher

The two Doctoral Researcher positions at Tampere University, under the History, Philosophy and Literary Studies Unit (HiFi) in the Faculty of Social Sciences, offer an opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree within one of the programme tracks: History, Literary Studies or Philosophy. The employment is fixed-term, ranging from six months to four years, with start between 1 January and 2 August 2027 and completion of the dissertation by the end of the employment period. The HiFi unit hosts multiple research centres and collaborates with national and international partners. The doctoral candidates will contribute to teaching and other duties related to their studies, which may not exceed five percent of total working hours. Requirements include a completed higher university degree and current doctoral registration in one of HiFi’s doctoral programmes. The salary follows the University Salary System and depends on job demands and performance, with typical starting salaries around 2700–2800 euros per month, depending on progress and pay grade. The position is based in Finland, in Tampere. A trial period of up to six months applies.
