Job Description

We are currently hiring a service unit manager for a permanent position. This recruitment is conducted anonymously, evaluating applications solely based on skills, experience, and motivation. Welcome to Rinnekodit Merikajo! Merikajo is a unit providing 24/7 accommodation services for substance abusers with mental health rehabilitation, opened in early 2025 in Puolivälinkangas, Oulu. The unit operates on the 'Housing First' principle, where housing is a fundamental right and a prerequisite for rehabilitation. Our services emphasize comprehensive support and guidance for clients, as well as intensive substance abuse rehabilitation. There are 15 client places. As the unit manager, you will oversee and develop the entire unit's operations, including client work, personnel management, and financial management. Your tasks will vary from organizing larger entities to detailed specifics. You will ensure that our clients can live a good and individual life, and that their self-determination is realized. You will lead the work community with a coaching approach—encouraging, giving feedback, and listening. You will build your team by example and create an encouraging atmosphere. You will ensure your team understands sometimes complex instructions and matters. As a service unit manager, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality services in a financially and ethically sustainable manner. You will monitor customer experience development and guide the team’s activities towards shared goals. Your leadership will influence a positive employee experience, and you will plan development measures based on well-being surveys. You have a solution-oriented attitude, focusing on solutions rather than problems, and see failures as learning opportunities. Although occasional stress is natural, you have effective recovery methods to maintain well-being. You will serve as an example of sustainable working life for your entire team. Rinnekodit is a workplace supporting the overall well-being of its employees. We build a respectful and equal work culture where everyone has the opportunity to develop. The work community includes social and health care professionals. The team includes practical nurses, guides, a nurse, and a housekeeper. At Rinnekodit and Diakonissalaitos, everyone works for human dignity. Our way of working is rooted in safety, equality, and respectful encounters. We are a discrimination-free workplace where everyone’s human dignity is upheld. As a supervisor, you will ensure that our shared values are realized daily. We expect you to have a social and health care sector degree (AMK) and registration with the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health, experience working with homeless, substance abuse, or mental health clients, experience with the 'Housing First' model, at least one year of supervisory experience, and understanding of coaching leadership. Finnish language skills are necessary for client interaction and internal communication. Rinnekodit is a smoke-free and drug-free workplace, and employment includes a health check with vaccination verification. We offer a salary based on the unit size (€3930.11–4401.73) and employment terms according to the private social services collective agreement, sports, culture, and well-being benefits, comprehensive occupational health services, a welcoming orientation, flexible scheduling, support from supervisors and colleagues, and corporate services for IT, HR, and finance. The application process is anonymous, assessing skills, experience, and motivation. The application deadline is July 5, 2026. First interviews are scheduled for the week starting July 6, 2026. The process includes personality profiling and a second interview. The position starts on September 1 or as agreed. For questions, contact Mika Paasolainen at rekry@rinnekodit.fi. Rinnekodit is a provider of special services in urbanizing Finland, offering impactful social and health services for various vulnerable groups. We are a societal enterprise and part of the Diakonissalaitos foundation group.
