We are now looking for you to join us at the University of Lapland's training school. The University of Lapland's training school is a comprehensive basic education school whose primary tasks include high-quality basic education, guidance of teaching practice, research, experimental and development activities, and continuing education. The training school works in close cooperation with the Faculty of Education, e.g., in the development of primary school teacher training with an emphasis on sustainability and nature education (LUKA). Additionally, the training school is being developed as a coordinator for a digital network and distance learning, as well as a regional pedagogical development laboratory. Our school provides emphasized music education in grades 3-6. Your duties The primary area of responsibility for the Lecturer of Special Education is the special education tasks of the comprehensive basic school related to comprehensive special education. The teaching load is 24 hours. Duties include multidisciplinary cooperation, guidance of teaching practice, and faculty tasks according to the training school's administrative regulations. Additionally, the position takes into account the obligations of the learning support law reform that entered into force on August 1, 2025. According to sections 11-13 of the University of Lapland's training school administrative regulations, teachers at the training school are required to have at least the qualifications specified in the Decree on the Qualification Requirements for Teaching Staff (986/1998). We expect from you According to sections 11–13 of the University of Lapland's training school administrative regulations, teachers at the training school are required to have at least the qualifications specified in the Decree on the Qualification Requirements for Teaching Staff (986/1998). For lower secondary education that does not include teaching practice, the qualification requirements are the same as in municipal lower secondary schools. A person is qualified to provide special education if they have completed: - a higher university degree or have the qualification to provide primary education as stipulated in this decree and, in addition to the degree or qualification, have completed special education teacher studies; or - special education teacher training in accordance with Section 14, Paragraph 1 of the Decree on Degrees in the Field of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training. The person selected for the teaching position at the training school must have excellent oral and written skills in the school's language of instruction (Decree on the Qualification of Teaching Staff 986/1998, Section 9 as amended by 1133/2003). Requirements - versatile experience in special education teaching tasks in basic education - evidence of development activities in basic education - skills in applying student-centered technology and artificial intelligence in your own work - experience in co-teaching and versatile cooperation with different professional groups. The starting salary level is approximately 3,752 - 3,982 euros. The employment contract for the training school lecturer position is in accordance with the provisions of the general collective agreement for universities regarding training schools.
