About the role

The Department for Rescue Services of the Ministry of the Interior leads, directs, and supervises rescue services with the goal of a good safety culture and an efficient rescue services system. The Ministry of the Interior also coordinates the activities of different ministries and sectors in rescue services and their development, and takes care of national arrangements and preparations for rescue services. Additionally, the Department for Rescue Services decides on the provision of rescue assistance abroad and the requesting of international assistance, and is responsible for the EU and international cooperation within the department's field. The Rescue Services Unit is specifically responsible for tasks related to accident prevention and rescue operations, international rescue services matters, rescue services information management, and the Ministry of the Interior's national rescue services situation and command center. The primary task of the expert is to participate in coordinating the civilian material aid delivered from Finland to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The role involves cooperation with the European Commission's Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), donors of material aid, and Ukrainian authorities. Additionally, the role may include tasks related to providing other international assistance, developing international aid processes, and communication tasks. The position requires domestic and international travel. The fixed-term nature of the position is based on the nature of the work.
