About the role

Punkaharju School is a peaceful and warm-hearted comprehensive school for grades 1-9, with approximately 200 students, located in the heart of Savo on the shores of Lake Puruvesi. Since January 2024, we have worked in new school premises; the school building and its surroundings are modern and close to nature. In addition to general education groups, the school has three special classes where teachers work together with assistants. Punkaharju School has a homely atmosphere. We are just the right size for us to get to know each other quickly. School events, celebrations, and visits pleasantly color the ordinary school day. We are seeking a full-time hourly teacher (special class teacher) for a fixed-term substitute position from 24.8. to 22.12.2026 - teaching in special class 1-3 We expect the selected person to have a willingness to develop and be developed, as well as good interaction and community skills. We value the ability to work in a team and collaborate with teaching staff, school welfare workers, and external networks. We require the applicant to have strong command of the new learning support, functional teaching methods, and electronic learning environments, the utilization of the curriculum and a diverse evidence-based assessment culture in teaching work, and good community skills. Experience in integrating special class students into basic groups is considered an advantage. Additionally, we require a willingness to develop and implement flexible teaching arrangements and collaboration across class and subject boundaries in accordance with the goals of the basic education National Core Curriculum (OPS). Eligibility requirements are determined according to the Decree on the Qualifications of Teaching Staff (986/1998). The terms of employment are determined by the Collective Agreement for Municipal Teaching Staff (OVTES). A one (1) month probationary period applies to the position. Before accepting the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal record extract in accordance with Section 3 of the Act on the Checking of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children (504/2002).
