Pirkkala’s school and student healthcare service is a small, friendly, multidisciplinary work community with a good team spirit where people enjoy working. You can learn about Pirkkala’s school environment, for example, on the municipality’s website. A public health nurse’s work is preventive: monitoring growth and development, health examinations and health guidance. At the school, the work also includes multidisciplinary promotion and support of learning and studying. As a public health nurse, you support children, young people and families at different stages of development in cooperation with homes and schools. Your duties in school and student healthcare include the broad range of public health nursing tasks. You work independently in appointments and as part of the health team, and act as an expert in promoting the health and wellbeing of school and student communities. As a nursing expert, you are responsible for school health services, work in partnership with a doctor and participate in multidisciplinary student welfare. What do we offer you? Skilled colleagues, an established network created with other experts, and support from the head nurse and the entire student welfare team. A varied public health nursing role with children and young people. Induction that takes your previous work experience into account. Flexible work and opportunities to plan your own schedule. We also have flexible working hours and the possibility of partial remote work. What do we expect from you? You are a public health nurse licensed in Finland. You must have completed the LOVe medication courses required for the position, or you can complete them within one month of starting employment. You have previous experience working as a public health nurse with children and young people. You have IPC competence and experience in self-care guidance, working with neurodivergent young people, and promoting sexual health. You have digital skills and good ICT skills, and are familiar with the Omni health information system. The position requires strong professional expertise, self-direction, flexibility and the ability to make independent decisions. In addition to a development-oriented approach, we value excellent interaction skills both in the work community and in client encounters. We hope you can start in the position no later than 30 November 2026. The position is full-time, with regular working hours of 38 hours and 15 minutes per week. The probationary period is six months. The selected candidate must have the vaccination protection required by section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act (1227/2016) and must provide a criminal record extract under section 6(2) of the Criminal Records Act before accepting the position. Interested? Submit your application through Kuntarekry. Candidates invited to interview will be contacted personally. The tentative interview time and place is the morning of Friday 30 October at Tipotie Social and Health Centre, Tipotie 4, Tampere.
