As a leading provider of technologies and services for the aggregates, minerals processing and metals refining industries, we are looking for a talented Quality Engineer to join our Grinding Delivery team within our Minerals business. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the quality, compliance and successful delivery of grinding equipment and associated systems across a global supplier network. Working closely with engineering, sourcing, project teams, customers and suppliers, you will help ensure products are manufactured and delivered to the highest quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the business. Responsibilities
- Develop, review and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans and project-specific quality documentation.
- Review customer specifications, technical standards and contractual quality requirements, ensuring effective implementation throughout project execution.
- Provide technical quality oversight for global grinding delivery projects and monitor supplier compliance with approved quality plans and procedures.
- Interpret and apply international codes and standards, including AWS, ASME, EN, ISO and customer-specific requirements.
- Review and approve supplier quality documentation, including inspection reports, welding records, NDT reports, material certificates and manufacturing records.
- Compile and verify Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs) and Manufacturer Data Records (MDRs) for customer submission.
- Partner with Engineering, Sourcing, Project Management, Contracts and supplier teams to resolve quality issues and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in supplier qualification activities, audits, inspections, kick-off meetings and quality reviews.
- Provide technical guidance on fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, coatings and inspection requirements.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), quality notifications, root cause investigations and corrective action follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with Metso standards, customer expectations and applicable industry regulations.
- Act as the final quality gate before equipment is released to customers.
- Provide feedback to Product Engineering to support specification improvements and enhanced quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, quality standardisation, supplier development programs and lessons-learned activities.
- Build strong relationships and maintain effective communication with global stakeholders, suppliers and customers.
- Travel occasionally (up to 15%) to support audits, inspections and project activities.
Requirements
- Experience in quality engineering, supplier quality, manufacturing quality or a similar technical quality role, ideally within mining, heavy industry, manufacturing or OEM environments.
- Strong knowledge of inspection and test planning, quality documentation, manufacturing processes, welding, NDT methods, material traceability, dimensional inspection and root cause analysis.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, quality requirements and international standards.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001 and familiarity with industry codes including ASME, AWS and EN standards.
- Experience using SAP, ERP systems or supplier quality management platforms.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a global environment.
- Fluency in English and a willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
