Preliminary Designer

We are seeking a dedicated Preliminary Designer to join Joonas’s team at Sähkölandia Oy, focusing on the early-stage design of electrical substations. The role offers flexible work arrangements: you can work remotely from virtually anywhere, at our office in Lempäälä (next to Joonas) or at our upcoming office in Seinäjoki. Occasional site visits to substations are included in the job. The position suits two paths: (1) early-career designer with some design experience or strong technical foundation, potentially from CAD design, mechanical or structural design or other technical design work; salary range for this path is approximately €3,000–€3,500 per month. (2) experienced Preliminary Designer with 5–10 years of experience in substation preliminary design, with salary range around €4,500–€5,200 per month. Your duties may include: electrical substation preliminary design, layout and arrangement design, civil and drainage design, grounding networks and cable routing design, steel structures and connection drawings, coordinating with the project team, on-site visits to ensure plan realization. Requirements include: suitable AMK or DI degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or related field; experience in technical design or substation preliminary design; proficiency with CAD design tools; systematic, proactive work style; problem-solving mindset; teamwork and good team spirit; Finnish language, and English for technical documentation if needed. Advantageous are prior substation design experience, AutoCAD/CADMATIC or similar tools, 3D design experience, practical knowledge of substations from sites or tests. Why join Joonas’s team?
