Senior Test Automation Engineer (Python / Playwright)

We’re looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer who approaches quality as an engineering discipline embedded in system design — not as a separate phase at the end of delivery. You will help shape how testing, automation, and observability evolve across a cloud-native SaaS platform built with React / Next.js, Material UI, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, running in a Kubernetes-based environment. Our software supports ERP and operational workflows within the circular economy and waste management domain — systems that combine real-world logistics, regulatory constraints, and data-intensive processes. Reliability and long-term maintainability matter more than short-lived feature velocity. Our development workflow is strongly automation-driven and AI-assisted. Faster iteration cycles place greater emphasis on thoughtful test strategy, instrumentation, and feedback loops. We’re looking for someone who can help engineering teams move confidently without sacrificing system integrity. This role is hands-on but also strategic: you will influence practices, help define pragmatic standards, and raise the overall maturity of automation across the platform. What You’ll Work On Designing and evolving end-to-end and integration automation Building sustainable testing frameworks across the stack Working closely with developers to ensure systems are testable by design Integrating automation into CI/CD (Bitbucket Pipelines) and reducing friction in the delivery process What You Bring Technical Experience Strong Python / JS / TS background in automation contexts, with deep hands-on Playwright experience Experience testing modern React-based web applications and component-driven UIs (Material UI or similar) Strong API and service testing experience; familiarity with FastAPI-style architectures is a plus Integration testing against PostgreSQL or similar relational databases, and systems deployed on Kubernetes or other cloud-native environments Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) plus logs, metrics, tracing, and instrumentation Nice to Have Experience defining or evolving testing strategy across teams Background in quality engineering, SRE, or platform engineering Experience with contract testing or schema validation Interest in how AI-assisted development changes engineering workflows and testing approaches What Success Looks Like Automation enables faster iteration without compromising reliability Engineers gain confidence through fast, trustworthy feedback loops Testing becomes a natural part of system design rather than a separate activity Tooling and practices scale with the platform instead of becoming bottlenecks Why Join Work on software that supports real operational systems in the circular economy Contribute to a pragmatic engineering culture focused on long-term quality Help shape how testing and automation evolve in a modern SaaS environment Collaborate with experienced engineers who value ownership and practical solutions Location & Ways of Working Hybrid — approximately 3 days per week at the office Office in Pasila, Helsinki — about a 10-minute walk from Pasila train station Start immediately — onboarding is ready as soon as you are Interested?
