Helsinki City is seeking a motivated School Assistant to work as a personal guide at Pukinmäenkaaren Comprehensive School. Do you want to work as a support for a student in a regional special class? A 1st grade student needs help supporting language development, attention, and visual impairment. As a school assistant, your goal is to guide and support the learner in different stages of the school and learning process. You will work in cooperation with the teacher. Another school assistant also works in the class. The job requires good interaction and teamwork skills and a proactive working style. We value the readiness and skill to support a student with visual impairment. In addition to supporting instruction, workdays include participation in meal and recess supervision, school swimming and trips, as a personal guide for the student in school everyday life. Pukinmäenkaaren Comprehensive School is a unified comprehensive school with grades 1-9. Our school is a local school for children and young people in a diverse neighborhood. Our school has regional special classes and classes for demanding special support serving the whole city. The supervisor for assistants is the service manager, and assistants also have a team leader for support. Your working hours as a school assistant are 22 h/week according to the student's schedule. With 22 h/week, the level salary is €1381.22. In addition, the salary includes possible additions according to KVTES. The level salary may change according to expertise and responsibility level. The total number of hours for the school assistant can be reviewed annually within the school's resources for the school's operating time. Annual leaves are mainly scheduled for school holiday periods. During school holidays, school assistants and special school assistants can also work in centralized holiday activities for disabled children. During holidays, the place of work may be another school in the City of Helsinki. Video interviews will be carried out with selected candidates on 26.-30.8.2026 and some will be invited to a personal interview afterwards. Interviews are held on 4.9. & 8.9. (reserve day 9.9.). Previous experience working in a regional special class is considered an advantage.
