About the role

Welcome to the pre-primary education group of Daycare Himmeli and Daycare Perttu as an early childhood education teacher! There is an open position in the pre-primary group in both daycares. We have a pleasant work community with a friendly and sensitive approach. We are proud of the good results from the Fiilari and Kunta10 surveys in recent years, which speak to the well-being of our entire unit. In our daycares, we invest in and constantly learn more about good interaction and a sensitive educational approach. Our pedagogical emphases have been the joy of reading and literature, topics that we can further deepen and draw much of our activities from. Your task is to act as an early childhood education teacher in a pre-primary group, in whose team another early childhood education teacher and two early childhood education childcare workers also operate. There are 14 children per group in the two pre-primary groups. We expect enthusiasm and eligibility for pre-primary education, a sensitive educational approach, and commitment to the work. Good teamwork skills are an advantage. You will act as the pedagogical leader of your own team, sharing the task with another early childhood education teacher in the whole team. At the applicant's request, the task can also be suited as a fixed-term employment contract for the length of an operational year. As an early childhood education teacher, you are responsible for the construction of your child group's operational culture and learning environment, the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of pedagogical activities, and the support of children's individual learning in accordance with the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit's operational plan, and the child's individual plan (vasu). Why work for us? It is important to us that you can do impactful work for a good Helsinki life. We want you to succeed and be inspired in your work. We offer you diverse opportunities to grow and develop as a professional. According to the latest personnel survey, people enjoy staying with us and the work is experienced as meaningful! You will have access to the personnel benefits of Finland's largest employer, such as an Epassi Flex benefit of up to 550 euros for commuting as well as cultural, sports, and wellness services. Read more about our personnel benefits and get to know the City of Helsinki as an employer at hel.fi/fi/avoimet-tyopaikat/miksi-toihin-kaupungille. Eligibility requirements: We require that you have eligibility in accordance with the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or, according to the transitional provision (Section 75), a Bachelor's degree in Education (lto), a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or a previous equivalent college-level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher's or social educator's degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree No. 608/2005). A recognition decision made by the National Agency for Education based on foreign education also fulfills the eligibility requirement for the position applied for. You are also required to have eligibility to provide pre-primary education (Decree 986/1998 and Decree 865/2005). In addition, we require good oral and written Finnish language skills. The selected person must present a valid criminal record extract for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for the respiratory system for those working with children under school age is checked (Infectious Diseases Act Section 55). When starting a permanent employment relationship as an early childhood education teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, we offer you an incentive bonus of 2,000 euros.
