Stacked bar chart: share of jobs requiring Finnish only, Finnish and English, or English only, for the four fields most and least open to English. 87% of all jobs in Finland require Finnish.

On 2 October 2026, 87% of active job listings located in Finland required Finnish, either alone or together with English. 1,665 jobs asked for English but not Finnish, and they are concentrated in a few fields: software engineering is the most open to English speakers, with 66% of its jobs English-only, while cleaning & property is the least, at 3%.

We counted every active job listing located in Finland in the JobCrawls database on 2 October 2026 (13,948 listings). A posting cross-listed on several job boards counts once. Language requirements are the ones stated in each posting. "Finnish + English" means both languages are required, which is a stricter bar than either one alone. We ranked the 12 largest fields and show the four most and four least open to English; the catch-all "Other" field is left out.

A small share of listings require another language or none at all, so the three groups don't add up to exactly 100%. "English only" means Finnish isn't listed as a requirement; in practice, Finnish can still help in an interview or at the workplace. If you're job hunting without Finnish, the fields at the top of this chart are where you'll find the most openings.
