UI/UX Designer

We are seeking an experienced UI/UX Designer to join our design team and help develop accessible and sustainable services for future higher education. Funidata is an agile software company with a 75-person team, and we work in Helsinki or Tampere with a hybrid model; we would like you to be in the office at least two days per week. You will join the in-house design team, Uikkuja, which includes four designers and a product owner. The team designs all Funidata services used by thousands of students, teachers, and university staff across Finland. You will collaborate with development teams to make decisions about product behavior and ensure a first-class user experience, accessibility, and consistency across the product family. We are entering an exciting phase with a new strategy, opening up new opportunities for you to influence. We are currently building mobile apps and developing analytics and AI solutions. Your role will include shaping the future of higher education, designing user-friendly services, turning feature ideas into interfaces, and ensuring products are scalable and durable. You will design accessibility-friendly interfaces and maintain a cohesive, high-quality visual language. You will make decisions based on user understanding, conducting user interviews and usability tests to ground designs in real data. You should come with several years of hands-on UI/UX design experience with digital products, especially complex professional interfaces or ERP-like systems. You will work closely with development teams and other stakeholders, justify design decisions, and help unify visions when needs diverge. You should know modern design tools (notably Figma) and have used design systems. You will have conducted user research and usability tests and presented concepts to stakeholders, including sales during pilot phases. You should want to develop both your own and Funidata’s ways of working, communicate fluently in Finnish and English, and have a positive, collaborative mindset. Extra points if you have mobile app design experience, multi-platform capabilities, and experience facilitating workshops or service design in WCAG 2.2 compliance.
