Pay from 1 August 2026

Pay depends on the pay group (A to D), years of service and where the workplace is: the Helsinki region has higher table pay than the rest of Finland. Table pay is a minimum; an employer can pay more, never less.

From 1 October 2026 sales roles are graded by how demanding the work is: a skilled task is pay group B, a demanding skilled task C and a specialist task D. A vocational qualification in the field puts you straight on the year-4 step. With no experience or training, pay is 85% of the year-2 rate for the first year.

Part-time hourly pay is the monthly rate divided by 160.

Retail agreement table pay from 1 August 2026, full-time monthly pay (hourly pay).

Working hours and supplements

Regular working time is at most 37.5 hours a week. A shift must be at least 4 hours and at most 9 hours on the roster (10 by local agreement). Part-timers' contracted hours are reviewed at least every six months, and if actual hours keep exceeding them the contract must be raised.

Regular work on Sundays, church holidays, Independence Day and May Day is paid double. Supplements for sales staff, per hour:

Evening Mon to Fri and Sun, 18:00 to 24:00
€4.18 (Helsinki region), €4.00 (elsewhere)
Saturday 13:00 to 24:00
€5.46 (Helsinki region), €5.27 (elsewhere)
Night Mon to Sat, 00:00 to 06:00
€6.28 (Helsinki region), €6.01 (elsewhere)

Probation and notice periods

A probation period must be agreed in the employment contract and can be at most 6 months. During it either side can end the contract without notice.

The agreement sets its own notice periods. The employer's notice depends on how long you have worked there; yours is 14 days, or one month after more than 5 years.

Sick pay and annual leave

How long sick pay lasts depends on length of service. In a job of under one month you get 50% of pay for the waiting period; from one to three months, full pay for the waiting period (the day you fall ill plus the next 9 working days).

Annual leave accrues at 2 days a month in the first holiday year and 2.5 days after that. The holiday bonus (lomaraha) is 50% of holiday pay, paid when you start your leave as agreed and return to work straight after it.

Who the agreement covers

toimialasta.

Does it apply to every employer in the field?

Yes. The Confirmation Board has found this agreement generally binding (yleissitova), so its minimum terms apply to every employer in its field, including employers who are not members of the signing employer federation. Your employment contract cannot agree on anything worse than these terms.
