Pay from 1 June 2026

There are five pay groups, and pay rises with experience in the field. Your group is set by the work you do most of the time. A waiter or cook is in group 2, or group 4 if the restaurant serves drinks stronger than 5.5% alcohol. A hotel receptionist is in group 5.

A year of experience counts in one year if you average at least 60 hours per three weeks; otherwise it takes two years. Part-time hourly pay is the monthly rate divided by 159. Table pay is a minimum.
