About the role

Kerava seeks a skilled early childhood education teacher to join our permanent team in Kerava. The position is based at Kurkela day care, starting on 3 September 2026 or by agreement. In Kerava, the role of the early childhood education teacher includes education, pedagogy, and pedagogical expertise. As a teacher you act as the pedagogical leader of your team, working multi-professionally with children and families to involve them in activities. Our staff work with the daycare management and regional early childhood education special education teachers, language and culture teachers, family coordinators, and a large group of early childhood social workers, child carers, and group assistants. We value well-being, participation, and a communicative culture. Our operations emphasize language awareness and strengthening children’s emotional skills, physical education pedagogy, sensitivity, and involvement of children and guardians. We have effective tools for evaluating and developing the quality of early childhood education. We continuously develop our learning environments and consider nearby nature as an integral part of the learning environment. We use digital learning tools and document pedagogy in the child’s digital portfolio. The basic structures of early childhood education in Kerava are solid. Daycare units are of appropriate size, staffing resources are good, and substitute arrangements function smoothly. Our operations reflect Kerava city’s values: humanity, participation, and courage. Salary and other terms follow OVTES for eligible early childhood education teachers (A1: €3,244.05 – C1: €3,462.12/month + possible supplements). Six-month probation applies. If there are no suitable applicants, we may consider students or others without formal qualifications, with a fixed-term arrangement of up to one year. The selected candidate must provide a criminal background extract as per Finnish law. Tuberculosis screening is required for those working with under 18s.
