Job description

Lead Nurse, Viiskulma 1 Home Care Are you an experienced nurse looking for a chance to use your expertise as a lead nurse? We are seeking a lead nurse for a fixed-term deputy position in Viiskulma 1 home care from 30 November 2026 to 31 December 2027. You will work in a skilled community that values cooperation, professionalism and continuous development. As lead nurse, you play an important role in supporting and orienting staff and ensuring the quality and client-centredness of nursing care. The work is Monday-to-Friday weekday work, and the working day starts at 7:00. What kind of team are we looking for? Viiskulma 1 home care serves Kamppi and Jätkäsaari. Our office is in central Helsinki, with good transport connections and less than a ten-minute walk from Kamppi metro station. Our team includes home-care professionals at different career stages. We value cooperation, responsibility and supporting one another. Viiskulma 1 offers a varied working environment and the chance to influence everyday home care and develop its operations. What does the work involve? In this role: • You act as the team’s nursing expert and support staff with nursing-related questions. • You help develop the quality, safety and client-centredness of nursing care. • You orient, guide and support new employees, students and other staff. • You work with networks and partners to ensure client-centred, evidence-based care. • You visit clients and participate in nursing care in their homes. • You plan your working day largely independently; the work is responsible, varied and self-directed. • When needed, you deputise for the supervisor, with an opportunity to develop your leadership skills. What do we expect from you? You are a licensed nurse with: • Experience as a lead nurse or in comparable responsibility and expert roles. • An interest in and experience of caring for older people. • Good clinical skills and decision-making ability. • The ability to orient, guide and support other employees. • Good IT skills and knowledge of information systems. • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Good self-management skills. • An enthusiastic, development-oriented and solution-focused approach. • An interest in deputising for a supervisor. The following are considered assets: • Experience in Helsinki home care. • Knowledge of Apotti. • Knowledge of RAI. • Knowledge of Titania. • Supervisory experience. What we offer • A responsible and varied expert role in Helsinki home care. • The opportunity to influence care quality and develop operations. • Thorough induction and support from your supervisor and colleagues. • Opportunities to develop your expertise and leadership skills. • Extensive training and development opportunities. • City of Helsinki employee benefits, including a lunch benefit and Epassi Flex. • The opportunity to apply for a rental apartment from Auroranlinna. Interested? Submit your application through our recruitment system. Complete the application in Finnish; we process only applications completed in Finnish. We will contact you by email or phone after reviewing your application. The application form asks for contact details for two referees. We may contact them during the recruitment process. Eligibility: You must have a nursing degree from a university of applied sciences, an earlier college-level qualification, a specialist nursing qualification, or a public health nurse or midwife qualification that includes nurse licensure. The position requires a Finnish professional licence under the Act on Health Care Professionals (559/1994, 1200/2007). Good spoken and written Finnish is required, at least level B2.1 on the Common European Framework of Reference. You need spoken Finnish to meet clients, assess their health, plan care and work with relatives and the multidisciplinary team. In home care, you often work independently in clients’ homes and assess situations and make decisions on your own. Written Finnish is needed for client and patient records, understanding care instructions and safe medication administration. Before a selection decision, the applicant must provide an occupational health assessment of their ability to perform the duties and a certificate concerning a drug test. A tuberculosis assessment under section 55 of the Communicable Diseases Act is required. Applicants working with older people must present a criminal-record extract under section 28 of the Act on the Supervision of Social Welfare and Health Care (741/2023). The LOP/LOVe LOP medication permit must be completed successfully. Medication permits are completed at the start of employment and must be passed by the end of the probationary period. We value diversity and equality in our work communities and welcome applicants of different ages, genders, abilities, languages, cultures and minority backgrounds. We aim to make recruitment accessible to everyone. If you need adjustments or have accessibility requests during recruitment, contact sotepe.monimuotoinen.rekrytointi@hel.fi. Messages are handled separately from the recruiting unit and will not be forwarded to the recruiting supervisor without the applicant’s consent.
