Primary school teaching assistant

Nätkin School is a local elementary school of about 70 students in the eastern part of the city, six kilometers from the city center. The school’s students study in general education groups across grades 1–5, with two special groups for grades 1–2 and 3–4. The maximum number of students in the special groups is 10. We are seeking a teaching assistant to join our team for a fixed-term period from 31 August to 22 December 2026 (21 hours per week), with duties including personal pupil guidance. As a teaching assistant you will support students in learning and assist with students’ daily life during breaks and other school activities, creating a safe and encouraging learning environment. Collaboration and teamwork are central, as you work closely with teachers, other assistants, and student welfare staff across different class levels. We expect you to have experience working with children of different ages and to be able to cooperate with teachers and other school staff. Eligibility requires a vocational qualification, e.g. a qualification in teaching assistance for general education and morning/afternoon activity supervision or practical nurse, or another suitable qualification. Experience supporting students with learning needs is considered an advantage. Local salary is 2483.24 €, paid in proportion to work percentage. Work time: 21 hours/week. Other terms: KVTES collective agreement. Trial period: 1 month. Employment duration: 31 August 2026 – 22 December 2026 (the employment may end earlier if the individual student support needs end). At termination of the employment, salary and other entitlements will be paid on the next regular payday. The employer cannot offer work during school holidays (Autumn, Christmas, and winter break). The successful applicant must present a police certificate as required by law for working with children (Law 504/2002, section 3).
