About the role

We are currently seeking a social worker for the Disability Services Social Work and Guidance Team 5 (Turku) for a permanent official position starting August 24, 2026 (or by agreement). Your tasks Your primary duties include assessing clients' service needs, creating client plans, and making decisions regarding services applied for by the client. The work involves preparing statements and reports, as well as providing guidance and counseling. You will be specifically responsible for the service entity of clients requiring special support within disability services; your clients may be people of all ages in need of disability services. The job description emphasizes multidisciplinary cooperation with various networks and partners, as well as broad knowledge of the social welfare service field and management of client service processes. What we offer you The work is varied, diverse, and mobile, performed in the office, at network meetings, and during home visits. To support your work, we provide the support of the team and supervisor, weekly team meetings, and supervision. We also utilize peer work within the team and broad multidisciplinary cooperation with other social and healthcare providers as needed. We offer an orientation period and strong support from your immediate supervisor and team. The position offers the possibility of partial remote work and flexible working hours to support work-life balance. Disability Services Social Work and Guidance Team 5 works closely with Team 6, and for this reason, work is also conducted in the same workspaces. The teams currently employ a total of 2 leading social workers, 11 social workers, 10 social guides, and 3 office secretaries. The social work and guidance unit is led by the disability services manager, and disability services for the entire wellbeing services county are coordinated and led by the disability services director. What we expect from you The work is diverse expert work that requires the ability for independent judgment and decision-making, mastery of the laws pertaining to the work, and the skill to apply them in practical client work. The work also requires flexibility, a desire to develop, and a reflective and evaluative approach. We expect initiative and courage from the social worker for multidisciplinary cooperation and network building. We value a client-oriented approach, a positive attitude toward development, an active and independent work style, and good organizing and documentation skills. Eligibility requirement: qualification as a social worker according to Section 7 of the Act on Social Care Professionals (817/2015). If no applicants meet the eligibility requirements, a student in the final stages of social work studies may be hired for a fixed term (Section 12 of the aforementioned act). Language requirements: good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory oral and written skills in Swedish. Experience in disability work and the application practices of the Disability Services Act is considered an advantage. Additionally, a driver's license and access to a private car are considered an advantage. The terms of employment are determined according to the SOTE agreement. The working time for a social worker is 37.75 h/week. The position is subject to a six-month probationary period. Submit your application by August 4, 2026.
