We are looking for a project nurse for the Hepatitis C elimination project implemented with funding from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. The project is implemented from 1.5.2025 to 30.6.2027. The position available is fixed-term from 11.8.2026 to 30.6.2027. The project task requires nurse qualification. In the project, rapid testing of hepatitis and other infectious diseases and the implementation of treatments are strengthened in three fixed health counseling points of the city and in other functions of substance abuse services. Hepatitis A and B vaccinations are also offered in the project, and those found to be HIV-positive are guided to treatment. Low-threshold Hepatitis C treatments have been implemented in the City of Helsinki's Symppis outlets and housing units since 2021. The purpose of the project is to develop a broader treatment model for drug users from the low-threshold hepatitis C treatment model in use. The new treatment model will be put into wide use, and its implementation will be supported by training and guide materials. In addition, the project strengthens the awareness of people who inject drugs about infectious diseases, their prevention and the prevention of their spread. Experience experts are used in conveying information and reaching the target group. Currently, four nurses and four practical nurses and an experience expert as needed work in the project. The project is led by a project manager and two doctors are responsible for the treatment decisions of the project's clients. The project currently operates in the City of Helsinki's substance abuse services in multiple locations, as a mobile operation in the premises of partners, as outreach work and in a temporary low-threshold Hepatitis C point on Alppikatu in Helsinki. Close cooperation is carried out in the project with HUS and wellbeing services, and the goal is to develop a functional cooperation and information transfer model. In addition, the project focuses on service guidance so that clients can also be brought into the scope of other substance abuse services if necessary. The duties of the nurses are the implementation and development of rapid tests and the implementation and development of Hepatitis C treatments. Nurses work in cooperation with a part-time doctor and prepare treatment processes for the doctor's decision-making. The tasks include guiding and promoting health counseling, vaccination, and responsibility for Apotti recording and workflow. The work is partially mobile, and Hepatitis C treatments are being developed to work in a mobile way of working. Working hours are mainly between 07:00 and 19:00 on weekdays. Good interaction skills, ability to withstand pressure and dealing with incompleteness, experience in working with the target group, as well as an open active and development-oriented approach and networking skills promote the performance of the tasks. The work includes training the nursing staff of substance abuse services in the testing of Hepatitis C and infectious diseases and the low-threshold treatment of Hepatitis C. Previous training expertise is considered an advantage and is helpful in performing the work tasks. We start interviews already during the application period. Eligibility requirement: Bachelor of Nursing degree or previous institute-level degree or specialist nursing degree or nursing or midwifery degree, which includes legalization as a nurse. The position requires legalization in Finland according to the Act on Health Care Professionals 559/1994. The language skill requirement is good oral and satisfactory written skill in Finnish. Before the selection decision, the applicant must present an occupational health assessment of their ability to perform the tasks included in the work. The position requires vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act. The position requires successful completion of the LOP/LOVe LOP medication permit by the end of the probationary period at the latest. Vaccination permits must be completed during the probationary period if they are not valid. We consider as an advantage: • experience in implementing Hepatitis C treatments, HIV and HCV rapid testing • experience in venous blood sampling • experience in project work • experience in substance abuse nursing and harm reduction work, knowledge of the substance abuse service system and social guidance. • training expertise • driver's license.
