Stadin AO offers many opportunities for teachers and those considering a teaching career. Join us in delivering logistics training at the new Roihupelto campus. The modern teaching facilities create new opportunities to plan, deliver and develop working-life-oriented teaching and guidance. We are hiring six vocational teachers for transport-logistics qualification units for permanent public-service posts. Your duties include: • Teaching vocational transport-logistics content in different learning environments, including driving instruction. • Guiding students and monitoring their learning progress with the teaching team, students and guardians. • Guiding workplace learning together with workplace instructors. • Participating in the assessment of students’ competence in demonstrations together with working-life representatives. • Planning and developing teaching and guidance together as a team, using varied learning environments. We want you to do meaningful work for a good life in Helsinki. We support your success and enthusiasm at work and offer varied opportunities to grow professionally. We care about work-life balance. You receive an Epassi Flex benefit worth up to €550, including sports, culture, commuting and wellbeing benefits. A lunch benefit is also available. Learn more about our employee benefits and the City of Helsinki as an employer at hel.fi/fi/avoimet-tyopaikat/miksi-toihin-kaupungille. You are the person we are looking for if you have practical professional skills in transport logistics gained through education and work experience; hands-on experience in transport-logistics work and introducing others to it; recent experience teaching in vocational education or acting as a workplace instructor; and a valid driving instructor’s licence and at least a C-category driving licence. We value your willingness to share your expertise with enthusiasm, initiative in developing learning environments, strong interaction and teamwork skills in a multidisciplinary workplace and when communicating with guardians, and an active approach to working with employers and other stakeholders. You should be ready to travel to workplace-learning locations in the Helsinki metropolitan area and be interested in students’ individual learning needs and supporting students with different study skills. We welcome people at the beginning of their careers as well as experienced professionals. Recruitment process: We review applications during the application period and invite candidates considered suitable to a group interview at the Roihupelto campus (Holkkitie 5). Group interviews will be held on 9, 10 and 11 November from 15:00 to 16:30. Candidates who advance will be invited to a work sample during week 47. Leading candidates will also be invited to an individual interview with the principal during week 48. For more information, contact Education Manager Niklas Niemelä, tel. 040 563 7386. Call times: 21 October 15:00–16:00 and 28 October 15:00–16:00. Eligibility: Eligibility and language requirements are determined by sections 13, 13 d and 17 of Decree 986/1998 on qualification requirements for teaching personnel. A qualified applicant has: 1) a higher-education degree suitable for the teaching position; 2) at least 60 ECTS credits or 35 study weeks of teacher pedagogical studies; 3) at least three years of practical work experience in duties most closely corresponding to the subject of the teaching position; and 4) the qualifications or permits specified in the vacancy notice. Because the position requires particularly strong or specialised practical professional skills, applicants who have completed the specialist vocational qualification for driving instructors will also be considered qualified. In that case, the teacher must have 60 ECTS credits / 35 study weeks of teacher pedagogical studies and at least five years of practical work experience in duties most closely corresponding to the teaching subject. Under section 13 d of Decree 986/1998, as amended by 1150/2017, vocational qualification units may also be taught by a person hired on the condition that they complete the teacher pedagogical studies referred to in section 13 within three years of starting employment. Please describe your required teaching qualification, degree, subjects taught (credits/study weeks) and pedagogical studies in as much detail as possible. The person appointed to the public-service post must provide a criminal-record extract under the Act on Background Checks for Persons Working with Children (504/2002). If selected, the applicant must demonstrate with a medical certificate that they are medically fit for the post. Transport-logistics teachers whose duties include driving a van, forklift, tractor or wheel loader must provide the employer with a drug-test certificate before employment begins. The role requires: • Broad expertise in transport logistics and a valid driving instructor’s licence. • At least B- and C-category driving rights. • Current work-life experience. • The ability to teach a wide range of qualification units in the vocational qualification in logistics. • Recent experience in vocational education or as a workplace instructor. If you completed your degree outside Finland, you need a degree recognition decision issued by the Finnish National Agency for Education by the end of the application period. A driving instructor qualification for CE and D categories and strong practical logistics expertise will be considered an advantage. Other related training, such as REAK or ADR, expertise related to professional competence, and various card-instructor qualifications are also considered an advantage.
