About the role

The City of Oulu's urban environment services public transport team works to promote sustainable, environmentally friendly mobility. The team designs public transport routes and schedules, participates in the procurement of transport services, and develops OS L services in line with the strategy. We are seeking a permanent PUBLIC TRANSPORT PLANNER. The role focuses on maintaining and developing public transport systems, with primary responsibility for ticketing and payment systems as well as information systems. The position is performed in close collaboration with a work partner. You will also serve as the technical support for the public transport team. In the role you ensure smooth user experience for ticketing and payment systems for customers and deliver the newest development measures to them. Experience in service design of systems is considered an asset. You will be closely involved in system development and see activities from both the developer and customer perspective. For information systems you will ensure, among other things, real-time tracking of public transport and the functionality of the journey planner as well as development of the system. For both systems you are responsible for their operation also to transport operators. The functionality of the ticketing and payment system and the information system is a crucial part of public transport services and its operation must be ensured daily. The systems produce public transport data whose validation and analysis are part of your duties. Reliable data allows the development of public transport to be weighted correctly. The role also includes collaboration with an competent authority stakeholders and the management and monitoring of finances. The public transport planner acts as a preparer in matters related to the public transport committee's decision-making. Other tasks are divided according to competence and include participation in development projects, responding to customer feedback, and presenting at public meetings. A suitable university degree is required. In addition, good teamwork and interpersonal skills, customer-service mindset and a developing, proactive approach are required. Experience in public transport planning and/or systems design and service design is considered an asset. As a public transport planner you will do significant work to promote a sustainable living environment and environmentally friendly mobility in the Oulu region.
