We are seeking operators for permanent positions in the Varkaus sawmill production line. The role includes a variety of tasks across the production process; as a production operator you will be responsible for your part of the production process as well as keeping your department clean and orderly. Safety is our top priority and all employees contribute to creating a safe working environment. The job is a shift position and starts in the spring. What kind of professionals are we looking for? Success in the role requires a flexible, eager-to-learn and proactive attitude. You are development-minded and have an excellent safety mindset. You should have good cooperation skills and willingness to work in a team. An autonomous and responsible approach to tasks describes your working style. We also require fluent Finnish language skills. We hope for a vocational qualification suitable for the role and work experience, for example in construction, sheet metal, wood, sawmilling, machine, electrical or automation technology fields, experience in mechanical forest industry production tasks, and knowledge of sawmilling and further processing production processes is considered an advantage; experience as a steel fitter is an advantage; experience in mechanical engineering and/or electrical and automation technology is an advantage. Technical competence helps in performing the job. English language skills are considered an advantage. What we offer? The Varkaus plant is a diverse integration consisting of a packaging board mill, a sawmill and an LVL plant. The packaging board mill operations include a pulp handling plant, a pulp mill, a recycling pulp plant and a paper machine producing the outer layer of corrugated board (PK3). The LVL plant produces veneer boards for the construction industry and the sawmill produces sawn timber and planed products. The Varkaus plant's annual wood consumption (pine and spruce) is about 2 million cubic meters. Wood procurement mostly takes place within a 100 km radius of the plant.
