About the role

Monitoimitalo Riimi Day Care is looking for an early childhood childcare worker as a substitute. The position is fixed-term from August 19, 2026, to June 30, 2027. In your work, warm interaction with both children and families and the ability to immerse yourself in the world of young children are particularly emphasized. It is important to us that every child is met as a unique and valuable individual. We hope the new employee has a positive and enthusiastic approach to work. We hope that you handle everyday situations flexibly and are ready to commit to our unit's operations and goals. Riimi Day Care operates in the Runosmäki multi-purpose building (Stoltinkatu 9), which opened in June 2024. Our day care has eight children's groups as well as play and family club activities organized together with the parish. Our safe and healthy facilities provide diverse opportunities to implement early childhood education. We actively utilize the multi-purpose building's facilities: we have access to, among other things, our own gym, a dining hall, and meeting and workspaces as needed. Additionally, we work closely with the library operating in the building - books and reading are strongly integrated into our daily lives and support children's linguistic development and multilingualism. Eligibility requirements are determined according to Section 28 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). Eligibility for the position of early childhood childcare worker is a vocational qualification in education and guidance, a vocational qualification in social and health care, or another equivalent suitable qualification, which includes or has been supplemented by sufficiently extensive qualification units in childcare, education, and teaching. The person selected for the position must provide the employer with a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (Act on the Verification of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children 504/2002). As employment benefits, the City of Turku offers, among others: - diverse training - Föli commuter card for cheaper bus travel - Tyky-bracelet for the City of Turku's sports and cultural services To promote equality and impartiality, the City of Turku prefers anonymous recruitment. In practice, this means that in the first stage of the recruitment process, open questions in the job application should not include information such as age, native language, or gender. Although some of this information is asked for in the background details, this information is not visible to the recruiting line manager in the anonymous applicant report. The goal of anonymous recruitment is to focus attention on the applicant's professional competence and work experience. Workplace address: Stoltinkatu 9, 20360 Turku.
